“Merope” in Greek mythology is the youngest of seven sisters. Their story is about the creation of the star cluster known as the Pleiades. The sisters were beautiful nymphs and companions to Artemis, daughter of Zeus. Orion, the huntsman became infatuated with, and relentlessly pursued each sister. Artemis asked Zeus to protect the sisters and so Zeus transformed them into stars. This star cluster, along with Hyades, are a part of the star constellation known as Taurus.
My logo is symbolic of this story. The centre is a star, to represent the creation of the Pleiades cluster and features seven points to represent each of the seven sister, Maia, Taygete, Celaeno, Alcyone, Sterope and Merope. A chain of circles similar to that of a Grecian sheild surrounds the star. This circular sheild deptcts the protection that artemis provided the sisters.
