Meropi Tourogiannis was born and raised in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs. She now runs her business in Chateau Christa - The House of Meropi Couture, Forest Hill.
Meropi’s interest in fashion began from an early age, when as a child she spent hours delving into her yia-yia’s (Greek grandmother) fabric cupboard to create a fashion show of elaborate garments pinned onto her younger sister.
Meropi’s talent for fashion become obvious in 2010. Her involvement, as a student at Siena College, in school musicals ignited her passion for costume and her skills in creation, flourished.
In 2012, Meropi’s Industrial Revolution inspired costume, was selected for the Top Designs 2013 exhibition. Her elaborate gown made of 100% silk and wool, adorned with manipulated material, was on display in the Melbourne Museum for six months. In 2013, she was selected to study at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne University and at 21 she graduated from VCA, where she completed her BA of Production (costume).
Meropi worked as an intern with designer Mathieu Salem, where she gained much valuable business experience. In 2017, she started her own company, ‘Meropi Couture’.
